WELCOME TO ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING PROGRAMME
The aim of the programme is to equip graduates with the basic knowledge needed for successful careers in electrical engineering, including electrical machines, power generation, power transmission and distribution, power system protection, power control drives, renewable energy generation and integration, electrical network management and design, as well as fostering professional ethics and leadership qualities.
Learning Outcomes of the Programme
Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:
1. Apply scientific and technical knowledge in the field of electrical engineering.
2. Design electrical networks for power systems and industrial applications.
3. Mitigate electrical engineering problems.
4. Give expert services in the field of renewable energy generation and integrations.
5. Evaluate the professional, ethical and social issues related to electricity.
6. Demonstrate interpersonal skills such as cooperation, negotiation, teamwork and leadership.
7. Build an educational foundation to pursue career / higher studies in engineering and entrepreneurship.

The graduates are well employed as there is ample scope for employment with the accelerating growth of the construction industry, hydroelectric projects, medium and small-scale industries, which demands the need for qualified and competent electrical engineers.
The analysis indicated that the conceptual and analytical skills of the graduates are commendable and the undergraduate programme at CST has greatly enhanced their capability to plan better and work independently. The tracer studies also show employers prefer CST graduates to graduates from other universities.
The programme is thus envisaged to strengthen and support the Human Resource Development goals of the Royal Government of Bhutan. The programme would also help in promoting and supporting the technical education programme in the country. With the country’s plan to generate 20,000MW in the future, the need for Electrical Engineering (EE) graduates will only increase over the years. Thus, the requirement of EE personnel is envisaged to increase in the coming years, indicating the requirement of this Programme.
